19 years later, is the 2000’s X-Men movie better or worse than we remember?

The X-Men are one of the most popular superhero teams in any category. It doesn’t matter if it’s TV, film, or comic books – they’re a premier group.

Towards the late ’90s, the comic book genre had gained some silver screen momentum, and one of the projects that came to light at the turn of the century was X-Men. It starred Halle Berry as Storm, Ian McKellen as Magneto, and Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier. Those three were already stars in their own right, while actors like Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine) and James Marsden (Cyclops) weren’t quite as well-known to the masses yet. Despite that, X-Men debuted at the No.1 spot on opening weekend, grossing over $54 million. The rest is history.

It’s been 19 years since the first X-Men was released and I thought it would be a good idea to see if this flick is still good. Like Blade, some of the special effects are dated. However, something like that shouldn’t matter as long as the movie remains entertaining. This is a classic film, and after revisiting it, there were some major flaws. It also has some scenes that people may have forgotten. With that, let’s take a look back and see how well X-Men holds up.
