With Titans only just entering its sophomore season on DC Universe and season 3 talks already ramping up, subscribers are wondering what is next for the platform’s future. The only series to look out for this year is the R-rated, animated comedy series Harley Quinn and, in 2020, will see the release of Stargirl.
The superhero, drama series featuring Brec Bassinger in the lead role, while close to wrapping up production, has experienced another leak, as another behind-the-scenes look at the actor portraying the titular character has been revealed — and this one shows her utilizing Stargirl’s flight abilities. Stargirl, which has been shooting as far back as March 14, follows senior high school student Courtney Whitmore, who comes into contact with a cosmic staff and, upon discovery, finds out her step-father is actually a superhero. As time goes on, Courtney will end up becoming an inspiration for a new generation of great defenders.
The series is based on the character that was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder. Johns (who executive produced Titans and Doom Patrol) is developing the 13-episode series. Compared to other shows on the platform, this will have a lighter approach, along with a PG-13 feel and tone.
Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger, Joel McHale, Luke Wilson, Meg DeLacy, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Brian Stapf, Anjelika Washington, Nelson Lee, Neil Jackson, Hunter Sansone, Yvette Monreal, Christopher James and Jake Austin Walker. Geoff Johns is writing the series. Johns, Greg Berlanti, Melissa Carter and Sarah Schechter are executive producers. Mad Ghost Productions and Berlanti Productions are producing the series, in association with Warner Bros. Television. It will premiere on DC Universe’s streaming service in early 2020.
