MCU: Ranking Tom Holland’s 10 best Spider-Man moments
By Alex Hodgson
9. The Washington Monument Save
After Peter misses out on the Academic Decathlon, his fellow team members decide to visit the Washington Monument. The Decathlon is a school event, after all, so Mr. Harrington decides to take his students to an important landmark while in town.
Peter was trapped inside the Department of Damage Control’s high-security warehouse after a failed attempt to stop the Vulture and missed the Decathlon with his friends. Typically, his attention waned enough to discover that the “glowy thing” he had left with Ned was actually a Chitauri energy core that was highly volatile and could explode at any second. Upon making the discovery, he headed for the monument as quickly as he could and tried to warn his friends of their impending danger.
Unfortunately, he’s too late to stop the core detonating, which leaves his friends in a precarious position. Instinctively, he begins climbing the Washington Monument and heads to the top to help his friends. Ignoring the warnings of the local police, he springs into action and manages to prevent his classmates from plummeting to certain death when he breaks through the glass and webs the elevator. Then, in true Spider-Man fashion, he misses out on an opportunity to kiss Liz.
