5. Finally Getting That Hug
Just as in the comics, Peter Parker has had a difficult life. Though it’s not explicitly stated, he’s clearly lost someone close to him (Uncle Ben) and his parents aren’t around either, so it’s clear that he’s desperately trying to find a father figure. Step forward Tony Stark. When Stark comes into his life, Peter finally gets what he’s looking for. Not only that, he gains a mentor as well.
In Spider-Man: Homecoming, Peter leans in and gives Stark a hug as he opens the car door. But Stark corrects him by stating that he was simply opening the door for him. As the film goes on, the two build their relationship and this continues into Avengers: Infinity War. After Thanos clicks his fingers and wipes out half of the universe, Stark is distraught.
That is until five years later when they manage to return the dusted back to life. Of course, this means that Peter returns. After the Avengers have assembled and the battle has begun, Peter saves his mentor from an outrider and runs over to tell him what had happened. Stark throws his arms around the young hero and Peter finally gets that hug that he craved.
