Titans: First look at Nightwing suit possibly revealed in set video
A new behind-the-scenes video may have given Titans fans their first look at Brenton Thwaites’ Nightwing costume.
As we saw last season on Titans, Richard “Dick” Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) abandoned the high-flying “Boy Wonder” persona of Robin, as the show suggested that he would undergo some kind of emotional growth.
However, it appears that the growth will indeed lead him to the character’s other iconic superhero persona: Nightwing.
This week, actress Minka Kelly, who portrays Dawn Granger (a.k.a Dove) on the DC Universe show posted a clip on her Instagram story from the set of season 2 of Titans in which Thwaites is wearing a costume that could indeed belong to Nightwing. First reported by Heroic Hollywood, Kelly has since removed the video, but not before user titansecretfiles screen-grabbed it.

The image in question shows a blurred photo of the Aussie actor in a dark, navy, bird-themed suit. There is a lot of loud, saturated colors from the lights of nearby police cars on set and it’s clearly a dark, rainy evening. Also, Thwaites is clearly wearing a raincoat, but has a domino mask over his face and is holding an umbrella.
That said, it’s possible that this could just be a flashback scene and that Thwaites is actually wearing the Robin suit under that coat. After all, Conor Leslie is sporting her Wonder Girl outfit – an outfit we know that we’ll see in the flashbacks.
So far, Dick has undertaken a mentor role when it comes to the current roster of Titans, with Gar Logan (Ryan Potter), Rachel Roth (Teagan Croft) and Jason Todd (Curran Walters) training to be the new Titans. Since the defeat of Trigon, the team has resided in their base of operations – Titans Tower – to prepare for an impending threat.
What do you think inspires Dick to become Nightwing? Is it going to be just like the comics, you think? Or will see a more grounded and/or high-concept way of Dick ultimately donning the suit. Is it even the Nightwing suit in the clip? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
