MCU: 30 sets of actors and crew who have worked together outside the franchise
21. Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana
A little known fact is that Rocket and Gamora worked together well before they were Guardians of the Galaxy. Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana played husband and wife in the movie The Words. Their characters are very different from their MCU ones.
The premise told in The Words is a story within a story. An author begins reading from his new book (the title of the film), which tells the story of the Jensens (Cooper and Saldana).
22. Vin Diesel and Kurt Russell
Who doesn’t love Groot? Sure, he only says three or four words, but he’s fun and provides a personality all his own. But did you know Groot voice actor Vin Diesel starred alongside GotG Vol. 2 co-star Kurt Russell?
If you’re a fan of The Fast and the Furious movies, you may recall that Russell, who stars as Star-Lord’s father Ego in the MCU, portrayed Mr. Nobody in two installments of the muscle car film franchise.
23. Marisa Tomei, Tilda Swinton and Brie Larson
What happens when you have Aunt May, The Ancient One, and Captain Marvel in a movie together? You get Trainwreck, starring Amy Schumer. Despite being in three different MCU films, Tomei, Swinton and Larson were a Dog Walker (Tomei), Dianna (Swinton) and Kim Townsend (Larson). This comes before the trio’s introductions in the MCU with Spider-Man: Homecoming releasing in 2017, Doctor Strange in 2016 and Captain Marvel in 2019.
24. Jon Favreau and Ming-Na Wen
Okay, well Jon Favreau and Ming-Na Wen haven’t starred together in any MCU project, but they have worked together. Both are working on the upcoming Disney Plus series The Mandalorian.
Favreau, who Marvel fans know as the director of the first two Iron Man films and as Happy Hogan, is the writer of the upcoming Star Wars series. Wen, who is best known by Disney and Marvel fans as Mulan and as Melinda May in Agents of SHIELD, will star in the show, but her character is currently unknown.
25. Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth
We MCU fans loved Tessa Thompson and Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok. Not only were they hilarious, but they were also gearing up for their next film together. No, we’re not talking about Avengers: Endgame. We’re talking about Men in Black International.
The actors plays Agent H (Hemsworth) and Agent M (Thompson) in the MiB spinoff that takes place in London. H is a star Man in Black, while M is a rookie who recruited to tame H. The film didn’t do quite as well as its predecessors, but the flick is fun and shows the chemistry between the two lead actors.
