Smallville alum Erica Durance will play Lois Lane once more in the Arrowverse’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover.

The Arrowverse’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover appears to be growing by the day. Tom Welling was just revealed to be reprising his role as Clark Kent/Superman from Smallville and, now, it seems he’ll be joined by his Lois Lane, as well.

Deadline reports that Smallville’s Erica Durance will reprise her fan-favorite role as Lois Lane in “Crisis on Infinite Earths.” Durance is slated to appear as the character in multiple episodes of the crossover event. The event will pick up with Durance’s Lane and Welling’s Kent almost 10 years after the events of Smallville. How exactly they’ll factor into the story is being kept tightly under wraps.

Durance first debuted as Lois Lane in Smallville’s fourth season, during which she was a recurring character. She was then quickly bumped up to a series regular at the start of the fifth season. Lane initially arrived in the Kansas town to search for her cousin, Clark’s friend Chloe Sullivan, who was believed to be dead.

After finding Chloe, Lois remained in Smallville and gradually formed a friendship with Clark. Of course, this eventually blossomed into a romance and, by the final season, the two planned to walk down the aisle. While the wedding was ultimately interrupted, they remained engaged by the series finale.

Durance has been widely considered by many fans to be the best live-action interpretation of Lois Lane. She embodied the determined, humorous and vulnerable demeanor that has made Lane such an endearing character over the years. With Welling joining the crossover, it only makes sense that she would play a role, as well.
