The Flash’s sixth season is nearly upon us, and according to the synopsis of the Season 6 premiere, the Scarlet Speedster is in for an intense year.

Team Flash haven’t exactly had the easiest of times as of late on The Flash, have they?

After discovering that their daughter Nora had been secretly working with their long-time arch-rival, Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen lost the time-traveling girl after she sacrificed herself to save her own integrity – allowing herself to be erased from existence so that she wouldn’t become the reverse of who she was.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like things are set to get any easier for the gang going forward, as The CW has released the official synopsis for the Season 6 premiere, “Into The Void”, and it’s safe to say that they’re in for an intense year.

"SEASON PREMIERE – While Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) deal with the heartbreaking loss of their daughter, Nora, the team faces their greatest threat yet — one that threatens to destroy all of Central City. Meanwhile, Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) has a brush with death that results in an unexpected new dynamic that will change her relationship with Caitlin forever. Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Eric Wallace & Kelly Wheeler."

Now, call us crazy but the idea of Barry and company facing their “greatest threat yet” sounds ambitious – especially when you consider the villains that this show has already tackled in the past.

The question is: Is this new threat related to new Big Bad Bloodwork, the returning Reverse-Flash, or the long-teased Crisis (that will eventually materialize in this season’s Arrowverse crossover: Crisis On Infinite Earths)?

Speaking of this greatest ever threat, is this also responsible for Killer Frost’s unexpected brush with death?

New showrunner Eric Wallace revealed to TV Line that the icy alter-ego of Caitlin Snow may be playing a greater role than her human other-half this season, and as she’ll be directly tied to Sendhil Ramamurthy’s Dr. Ramsey Rosso, it does suggest that Bloodwork is the big threat that the synopsis teases.

Whatever happens, it sure looks like Team Flash have dark days ahead in The Flash Season 6.
