Legends of Tomorrow’s fifth season will be paying tribute to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in the most unorthodox of ways!

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow has no problem living life outside of the box. Undoubtedly the most creatively free superhero show on television (and perhaps of all time), the Arrowverse ensemble series has featured giant dolls with kung-fu fighting abilities, prehistoric dinosaurs, musical numbers and even murderous unicorns.

Moreover, it’s just as creatively free when it comes to episode titles, as many of them have paid tribute to some of the most iconic films, books, songs and TV shows of all time. Remember “Séance and Sensibility”? What about “The Eggplant, the Witch & the Wardrobe”? “The Good, the Bad and the Cuddly”, perhaps? Oh, and let’s not forget a personal favorite: “Necromancing the Stone”.

However, the creative geniuses behind the show may have reached a new level of brilliance with this next one.

Taking to social media, Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Keto Shimizu posted the script for Season 5, Episode 7 and, well, let’s just say that the title says it all. Check it out below:

See what we mean? “Romeo v Juliet: Dawn of Justness” isn’t just a bafflingly brilliant title that already makes us incredibly eager to watch the episode, it’s clearly an homage to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The big-budget spectacle was released in March 2016 and, although it was a box office success, it was a minor disappointment by those who expected it to cross the $1 billion mark. And although it wasn’t well-received by critics, it’s still an undeniable part of DC Comics and Warner Bros. history, as it officially launched the DCEU.

It’s nice to see Legends paying tribute to the silver screen showdown… in a way that only Legends can! The only question is: What on earth has gone down between Romeo and Juliet? And, perhaps more importantly: Can Martha save the day this time? Guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Legends of Tomorrow will remain off our screens until the beginning of 2020, when the show returns for its fifth season. However, the Legends will play a major role in the Crisis On Infinite Earths Arrowverse crossover, which kicks off with a special episode of Supergirl on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
