Batwoman: Ruby Rose survived emergency surgery while filming
Ruby Rose is seriously dedicated to her role as Batwoman, surviving emergency surgery after incurring injuries on the set.
Being the protector of a city as lawless as Gotham comes with a variety of scars, and Ruby Rose now has them for real after surviving emergency surgery following stunt work on set while filming the first season of The CW’s new Arrowverse TV series Batwoman.
This news was earlier reported by Variety.
Rose plays the titular Batwoman of Earth-2, Bruce Wayne’s cousin Kate Kane, who inherited the role of protector of Gotham after Bruce vanished without a trace three years earlier.
Kane was introduced last year in Elseworlds, the latest Arrowverse crossover storyline, in the episode “Elseworlds, Part 2” (7.09), when Oliver Queen, Barry Allen and Kara Danvers travel to Gotham to find a man named John Deegan.

Rose had two herniated discs in her back, which nearly severed her spinal cord and would have left her paralyzed.
Rose let the world know about this with a graphic Instagram post, which should not be viewed if you don’t have a strong stomach and was filmed while the surgery was in progress. She now has what she describes as “a Pez dispenser scar on my neck” as a minor result due to the initial incision.
“I was in chronic pain and yet couldn’t feel my arms,” Rose wrote in the caption.
At the tail end of the post, she explains why she let the video be taken — she was curious what would happen and wanted to make sure nothing was accidentally left inside her body that shouldn’t be there.
Aside from her roles as an MTV personality and a stint on Australia’s Next Top Model, the actress can be seen in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, Pitch Perfect 3 and The Meg.
Batwoman premieres on Sunday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET.
