5. Laura Harrier

Speaking of relatively “unknown” actresses, Laura Harrier also fits the bill. However, she’s played in more notable, big-screen films than Tati Gabrielle. Unlike some other names on this list, Harrier may not immediately ring a bell. However, if you’ve watched Spider-Man: Homecoming, she’ll look familiar.

She was Liz — the love interest of Peter Parker and the daughter of his nemesis, Adrian Toomes aka Vulture. While she didn’t steal the screen for the MCU, she did in the Spike Lee film BlacKkKlansman. In that film, Harrier played Patrice, an Angela Davis-like character who was tough, inspired, and passionate. Harrier stole every scene she was in.

Patrice showed that Harrier can play a leader. Oracle is without a doubt a leader as the eye in the sky and woman in the chair for the Birds of Prey. The chance to play a role with the depth of Barbara Gordon is an intriguing challenge Harrier can pull off.

It also doesn’t hurt that the 29-year old actress has youthful looks. There’s no doubt she could play the two sides of Barbara pre and post-Oracle. The 5’9″ actress is a fresh face actress who would crush the role. And to ease her into the role more easily, there’s no better way than to introduce her in BoP, even if it’s just for a split second at the end of the film.
