Batwoman: 5 reasons you should be watching the show

5. The Supporting Cast
If you’re going to have a serious, white hero, you might as well surround her with some quirky and diverse supporting cast members. From Meagan Tandy’s Sophie Moore, Camrus Johnson’s Luke Fox, Elizabeth Anweis’ Catherine Hamilton-Kane, and Nicole Kang’s Mary Hamilton, Batwoman has plenty of characters with the potential to become fully developed over the course of the first season. Perhaps even the show.
Sophie starts off as being the quintessential damsel-in-distress but, by the end of the episode, the character takes on a whole new dimension, one that will serve as one of the central personal arcs for Kane.
Johnson seems to be having a whale of a time playing the bumbling Luke Fox – but he comes with a hint of pathos that comes from living in the Bat’s shadow. Hopefully, he and Kate become close confidantes soon.
Kate’s stepfamily is most interesting. Catherine seems like an evil stepmother, a shallow person absorbed with celebrity, but surely she must have some redeeming factor if Kate’s father Colonel Jacob Kane is married to her. The scene-stealer of the episode was Mary – Nicole Kang perfectly embodied Mary as the artificial millennial who actually goes deeper than expected. She surprised viewers and Kate alike. These actors carry the show as much as Rose and add so much to the universe of the show.
