7. Tony Stark becomes Iron Man

Movie: Iron Man (2008)

Captain America may be the best Avenger, but Iron Man is the most popular. He’s the most important character to the franchise and beloved by everyone for more than just his personality. His growth as a character was incredible. Looking back, he didn’t care about anyone except himself. That changed after the terrorist attack that almost cost him his life.

Tony Stark was captured and was forced to make a missile for a terrorist group called the Ten Rings (so much wasted potential). With the help from another prisoner named Yinsen, they built Tony’s first Iron Man armor. Tony killed his way through the cave, but lost Yinsen along the way. Before he died, he told Tony not to waste his life. This was when Tony decided to give up his life selling weapons and become more than a warmonger.

Obadiah Stane wanted to continue to sell elite Stark brand weaponry and profit off pain. Tony may have continued to go along with this. Thankfully, Tony had a moment of clarity and decided to become a hero. This transformation led to a plethora of heroic moments. Tony becoming Iron Man directly also happened to affect every other iconic Infinity Saga moment on this list going forward.
