6. Big Barda

Another character that could use a live-action adaptation is Big Barda. This is another character that was adapted well for DC Super Hero Girls. Big Barda is reimagined as a teenage girl who, along with the other cast members, is looking to reform herself as a pure hero and atone for her actions with the Female Furies.

Ava DuVernay is working on a New Gods movie, co-writing the movie with Tom King. There has not been an official release date set for the movie, meaning there is no guarantee the project will happen anytime soon.

The New Gods are a cool Jack Kirby creation that more people need to know more about. If Big Barda can be a gateway for casual audiences to the New Gods, then there should be no hesitation to include her in this series.

DC Super Hero Girls does a good job of adapting the character for a younger audience by making her a Thor-type character. She’s socially awkward and does her best to fit in with everyone else, but she’s not shy about getting into a fight and showing off her brash personality.

The budget is not known for this HBO Max series, but Big Barda is a flexible enough character that power scaling wouldn’t be a big issue in her inclusion of the series.
