3. Supergirl

The CW has proven that Supergirl can be successful. The TV show adapted the character well for the modern audience, portraying Kara Zor El as a mid-20s adult who has to deal with her relationships as Kara and Supergirl.

A teenage Supergirl could give Elizabeth Banks similar results if done right. The core of Supergirl is her trying to stand out on her own, forging her own identity and emerging out of the shadow of her cousin, Superman.

Everyone knows Supergirl in some sort of way either from the TV show or her ties to Superman. Supergirl is a good enough character on her own that you don’t need Superman on DC Super Hero High as shown on Supergirl. The plot synopsis teases that these young students will grow into legendary heroes, so you need iconic heroes like Supergirl to justify the hype for the series.

If characters like Batman and the Joker can be portrayed by multiple actors, why can’t Supergirl? She’s an important enough character that is open to multiple interpretations and portrayals by different actresses.

If one goal for this HBO Max series is to inspire new viewers, there’s no better hero to inspire a young generation than Supergirl.
