Arrow: Emily Bett Rickards will return as Felicity Smoak for series finale
Holy Frack! Felicity Smoak is back! Emily Bett Rickards will return to Arrow for its eighth and final season finale.
Emily Bett Rickards caught Arrow fans off-guard earlier this year when she announced that she would be leaving the show upon the conclusion of the seventh season.
One of the show’s longest-standing actors, she portrayed supporting character Felicity Smoak in a recurring role during the show’s first season and, following that, was promoted to a series regular for the second – a role she held onto until the end of Season 7.
However, it turns out that this was not the last we would see of the adorkable IT tech-girl, as Stephen Amell has taken to Twitter to reveal that Ms. Smoak will be returning for the show’s series finale.
Felicity was last seen after she and Oliver had successfully moved away from Star City to raise their newly-born daughter Mia. Despite having a few months of happiness together, the Emerald Archer was forced to leave his family when The Monitor showed up and requested his assistance in his mission to save the multiverse from the Crisis.
However, he also saw the end of Felicity in the flash-forward narrative as, 20 years in the future, the character bid farewell to her now-adult daughter Mia and step-son William before meeting up with The Monitor to tell him that she had “waited a long time to see him”. Of course, she presumably meant Oliver and, with that, the pair walked off into a wall of smoke.

Felicity Smoak played a major role in Arrow during her time on the show, starting off as Oliver’s sidekick IT girl before becoming a major player on Team Arrow and falling in love with him. From there, the pair got together and eventually got married.
While questionable writing resulted in Felicity losing some of her initial popularity as she subsequently became the most divisive character in the entire Arrowverse, there is no denying that Emily Bett Rickards owned that role. And that, more than anything, earned her the right to appear in the final ever episode. The question is: Will Olicity reunite?
Welcome back Emily – we’ve missed you!
Arrow‘s final season is currently airing on The CW on Tuesday nights at 9:00 P.M. ET. Are you glad to hear that Felicity will be back? What’s your favorite moment of hers on the show? Let us know in the comments below!
