We finally know when Arrow is going to end, as The CW has unveiled the date of the series finale.

The end of an era is almost upon us. Yes, that’s right; After seven years, 170 episodes and countless adventures for Oliver Queen and co., Arrow will come to an end.

But that’s information that we’ve known for quite some time, as it was confirmed earlier this year that the show’s shortened eighth season would also be its last. What we didn’t know, however, was when this final episode would air. Well, now we have our answers.

Arrow‘s series finale will air on January 28. The episode, aptly titled “Fadeout”, will take place two weeks after the show returns with its offering in the long-awaited Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover with The FlashSupergirl, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman.

It will then air its penultimate episode the following week, which will be the Canary-centric backdoor pilot episode for the planned Green Arrow and The Canaries spin-off show (that will focus on Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance, Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah Drake and Katherine McNamara’s Mia Smoak).

Arrow has been on the air since 2012, carrying on the legacy that Smallville left behind by redefining what the superhero TV genre could accomplish. The Stephen Amell-led series was critically acclaimed in its first two seasons and would ultimately end up spawning four spin-off shows in the collective Arrowverse – with the planned fifth hopefully on the way.

It’s hard to put into words all of what Arrow accomplished, but it’s safe to say that it paved the way for the next generation of superhero television shows and, in the process, gave fans an incredible journey. It wasn’t all perfect, but man, it’s been one hell of a ride.
