In this week’s episode of Arrow, Oliver and the team head to Russia, but does Laurel betray him at The Monitor’s behest?

We may be only four episodes into Arrow‘s final season, but the show surely hasn’t wasted anytime throwing us viewers into the madness of the Crisis.

In the space of a month, Oliver has witnessed the destruction of Earth-2, reunited with his sister and even met his future children. To top it all off, we also discovered that Team Arrow’s long-time ally (not-to-mention John Diggle’s wife) A.R.G.U.S. Director Lyla Michaels was working with The Monitor all along.

But not even that could have prepared us for the shocking cliffhanger that the last episode entailed as Mar Novu himself confronted Laurel Lance – informing the Black Canary that she could get Earth-2 back if she completed one task: Betray Oliver Queen.

The upcoming episode, “Prochnost”, will see Oliver and Team Arrow travel to Russia in search of the object that could take down a powerful god like The Monitor should they be required to use it. Along the way, the Emerald Archer will run into old pal Anatoly Knyazev (David Nykl). While this is going down, John Diggle with reunite with the returning Roy Harper/Arsenal (Colton Haynes).

Check out the episode’s trailer below:

Naturally, fans are eager to see if the episode will follow up from the previous cliffhanger involving Laurel and The Monitor, and the good news is that there will be some developments in that area.

In an exclusive interview with TVLine, Katherine McNamara who portrays Mia Smoak on the show revealed that we will see Laurel facing some serious emotional turmoil as she struggles with whether or not she should follow through on Novu’s offer. In addition, we will also see quite a touching scene between her and Mia.

The Monitor’s request was a shocking one, no doubt, but it’s one designed to make us question her true intentions, simply because she used to be the villainous Black Siren. But she’s not a villain anymore – she’s a hero that just desperately wants her home and loved ones back. But is she willing to throw that redemption away by betraying the Green Arrow?

It’s a difficult question to answer, but given all the work that Laurel has done to become the heroic Black Canary, it’s unlikely that she’ll be turning on anymore. That being said, if you really want to know more, the official synopsis and photos for next week’s episode (“Reset”) tell us a lot more about whether she follows through on it or not (obviously, beware of potential spoilers).

Speaking on synopses, want another little snippet? Check out The CW’s official synopsis for “Prochnost” below:

"Upon learning the key to oppose The Monitor (guest star LaMonica Garrett), Oliver (Stephen Amell) and team return to Russia on a mission to gather the necessary materials. Diggle (David Ramsey) reunites with a figure from his past."

Prepare yourselves, “Prochnost” is going to be something else.
