Superhero movies: 25 best superhero movie performances of the decade
By Mark Lynch
13. Chris Pratt as Star-Lord
Superhero Movies: Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame
This was another confusing supehero movie casting. The chubby guy from Parks and Recreation was going to play a superhero and lead a superhero movie set in the MCU? We knew he could be funny, but did he have what it takes to carry a movie? Shockingly, he did.
Chris Pratt gave us everything. He was a goofy space pirate who spent his life pillaging and having sex, who ended up becoming the leader of a random group of beings. What puts Pratt above some people is his ability to do it all. He was more funny than he was serious, but he played his emotional roles to a T.
"“You said it yourself b****, we’re the Guardians of the Galaxy.”-Star-Lord"
Watching Pratt get angry when he found out Ego was the reason his mother died was unlike him. We’ve seen Peter Quill sad and in love, but not this. This was the first time we saw Quill enraged. The best part is it was believable. That on top of his, “We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy” line was his best moments by far.
Hopefully, we’ll see more of his acting skills in future. Pratt is a better performer than we give him credit for. If there is an Annihilation project in the future, Quill will be at war. When the lives of innocent people and loved ones are threatened, Quill will reach a new level. There won’t be many smiles and jokes. Just him killing the enemy.
