5. Hugh Jackman as Logan

Superhero Movies: X-Men: Days of Future Past, Logan

It took 17 years, but it happened. We finally saw what it would look like if 20th Century Fox gave us an R-rated Wolverine movie with the release of Logan. It was one of the best superhero movie performances of all time.

We already know there’s nothing Hugh Jackman can’t do. Nonetheless, Logan is the moment we’d been waiting for. It wasn’t about excessive cursing and violence. It was about the freedom to be able to do those things without having to be stifled. Logan was all of that, but within reason. It was all to further the plot in the movie. This was 20th Century Fox’s best movie and Hugh Jackman’s perfect portrayal of Wolverine.

"“Listen, you don’t have to fight anymore. Go, go. Don’t be what they made you. Laura…”-Logan"

Hugh Jackman always delivered a great performance as Wolverine. Even when the movie itself wasn’t good. Playing Wolverine isn’t a simple job. He’s a layered character. Sometimes he’s the angry guy looking for a fight. Other times he’s the caring father figure who’s looking out for his family. There are also times where he hides his emotions and it makes him a jerk. We got all of these in Logan.

It’s disappointing seeing what could have been. Hugh Jackman should have been the greatest superhero movie star of all-time. He’s easily the best actor on this list. At least we got Logan. A movie that is unlike any Marvel superhero movie and gave us the Logan we’ve always deserved.
