The Boys: What can we take away from the season 2 teaser?

The Boys season 2 trailer is as bloody and graphic as you’d expect.

Amazon’s The Boys was the hit the creators knew it would be. They were so confident that filming for season 2 started before season 1 even premiered on Amazon Prime.

Production of the upcoming season was completed in November like they said it would. A few weeks after that,  the teaser trailer for the upcoming season was released.

Just like you’d expect, the teaser shows that the show hasn’t lost any of the creativity and shocking moments that separated it from other superhero projects.

The trailer starts off with a quick look at a lot of the major characters like Homelander, Butcher, Hughie, and Starlight. There are callbacks to things that happened in the previous season like Homelander drinking what we can assume is breast milk.

Out of nowhere, they get into it. Blood is being sprayed, people are getting killed, and middle fingers are being flipped. The Boys‘ creative team knew exactly what to give us to get their fans excited. Hints of what’s to come and reassurance that nothing is going to change.

Takaways

There was more Black Noir than expected. In fact, there was a part where Black Noir was perched on a roof and another where he even ended up killing someone by ripping their mouth open. That’s not it. There’s more footage of him brutally beating a couple of people. Why is the important? We haven’t seen what Black Noir can do or how violent he can be. All that’s known is that he doesn’t speak and can apparently play the piano. He’s an important part of the comic book, so we can assume the same will be true in Amazon’s The Boys.

The teaser also shows The Boys themselves are back together. After the way Butcher left them, you can guess that they’re going to be mad at him. However, they need each other. Each of them have their reasons for doing what they do. And, as Butcher put it, they’re not the Spice Girls if they aren’t together. You know there are going to be some angry words and probably a fight before they can trust or follow Butcher’s lead again.

Lastly, and this is a big one, Homelander and Starlight fighting. Well, Homelander grabbed her by the throat and slammed her up against the wall. There are a few things that could’ve made him do this. First, maybe Starlight said something at the wrong time. Second, Homelander may have found out that she’s dating Hughie. And since Hughie is connected to Butcher, this may have infuriated Homelander. Lastly, Homelander could just be bored. He’s an unhinged man with a seemingly unlimited amount of strength. He’s said that he can do whatever he wants. Maybe this is just one of those things he’s doing because he can.

There are other takeaways like Homelander on the roof with his son – he’s probably teaching him to fly. There’s also Butcher punching Hughie – we’ll have to wait to know for certain why he’s doing it. This upcoming season should be better, bolder, and bloodier than the first. All this and more and this was only teaser!
