FanSided 250: Marvel fans rightfully named the best in the world

Marvel fans were ranked No. 1 overall in this year’s FanSided 250, the ultimate ranking of the hottest fandoms worldwide, and rightfully so!

Each year, the FanSided 250 (formerly known as the Fandom 250), aims to rank the greatest fanbases in the world. It’s the ultimate ranking of the hottest, most buzz-worthy fandoms across the world of sports and entertainment and this year Marvel fans managed to claim the No. 1 spot – making it the first entertainment fandom to claim the top spot!

Over the past 80 years, Marvel has helped to define pop culture leaving a global mark in the world of comics, television and, of course, movies. The Marvel fandom is like few others, as it does something few are able to achieve in banding together million of individuals from all walks of life through the collective love of the franchise and its diverse characters.

2019 has been a particularly unforgettable year for Marvel fans, which makes their ranking as the top fandom on this year’s FanSided 250 the true cherry on top of what might go down as the biggest year in Marvel history.

With the help of fans, each film released during the calendar year easily passed the $1 billion dollar mark at the box office. The true standout of the trio is, of course, Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame which served as the closing chapter in what has been an epic 10-year journey. A film 10-years in the making, Endgame was a love letter to the millions of fans who embarked an unknown journey and helped make the film the No. 1 movie of all-time.

Beyond movies, fans regularly show their fandom pride in convention halls across the globe – never hesitating to camp out for hours in hopes of attending panels or show their Marvel pride through elaborate cosplays. Regardless of Marvel’s direct presence, the fandom never fails to rank among the most represented faction of pop culture conventions which have become a hub for like-minded fans to come together and celebrate their passion with one another.

The passion of Marvel fans is also evident in the love they show for the men and women who have brought their favorite heroes to life on the big-screen. This love is equally reciprocated by the likes of Marvel’s biggest stars including Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Tom Holland and Robert Downey Jr. — to name a few — who are never stingy in their praise and thanks for the love shown to them by the fans.

In a year which marked the end of an era for Marvel, it’s only fitting that the fans who helped make the franchise into the global powerhouse it has become are recognized as the greatest in the world.
