Matching 30 Marvel Cinematic Universe characters with each NBA team

San Antonio Spurs
Can anyone remember the last time the San Antonio Spurs didn’t make the playoffs? There’s a reason for that. You can count on one hand how many times the Spurs haven’t been in the playoffs. They’ve always seemed to get the best of the best. Their star players have always been among the NBA’s elite. David Robinson, George “The Iceman” Gervin, and Tim Duncan are among the best at their position. The Spurs also know how to find talent. When Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker were drafted, who would have thought that they’d be hall of fame players one day?
The one knock on the Spurs is that they’re boring. To the casual fan, they are. To the well-informed, they’re a work of art. The Spurs run their offense and it flows. No one complains about their stats. Everyone just wants to win.
Tim Duncan may have been able to lead the league in scoring. He’s more than skilled enough. Doing that would have cost his team wins and the multiple titles they won along the way. Instead, he worked within the system. This is one of the many reasons why Tim Duncan is considered the greatest power forward of all time. Even though some people say he’s a center.
Captain America
This required a character that people may think isn’t exciting. Again, to the uninformed, Captain America is dull. He doesn’t have the funny one liners that Tony Stark does, Steve Rogers loves following the rules (which some people detest), and his uniform isn’t flashy. For those who are familiar with Captain America, they know he’s far from boring. His skill as a fighter alone is more than enough. A quick look at his elevator fight scene in Captain America: The Winter Soldier proves that.
Another similarity is to the great Gregg Popovich. Pop is one of the best coaches in any sport. He’s been able to put people in positions to succeed from the beginning. Cap is the same way. Another thing Steve Rogers and Gregg Popovich have in common is the way they stand up for people. Popovich has spoken up for disenfranchised people for years. A quality that’s earned him more respect than he’s already had. They also both served in the military as well.
