Matching 30 Marvel Cinematic Universe characters with each NBA team
By Mark Lynch
LA Clippers
The LA Clippers were the joke of the NBA for years. The Donald Sterling scandal and weird draft selections made them the butt of jokes along the years. When they were the Buffalo Braves they had minimal to zero success. When they moved to San Diego and became the Clippers and they still weren’t a threat at all. After coming to Los Angeles in the 1980’s, the Clippers had years of not making the playoffs and second round knockouts. When Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan things got better.
Griffin, Paul, and Jordan turned the Clippers around in record and popularity. They became known as Lob City. Chris Paul had two high-flying players he could lob alley-oops to. They were an exciting team that always had flashy highlights throughout the year. Despite their regular season record, the Clippers still couldn’t make it past the second round. This includes first round losses to the Utah Jazz and the Portland Trailblazers. Two teams they should have beaten. The Clippers new team has promise. Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are players that could finally bring them a championship. At least to the western conference finals.
This pick proved to be difficult. This had to be someone who never reached or smelled the promised land, but had the potential to do better.
Vulture
Adrian Toomes is an underrated Marvel Cinematic Universe villain. For weeks he was stealing weapons left over from the first alien attack (the first Avengers movie). That wasn’t his biggest accomplishment. His big win was almost stealing Tony Stark’s technology out of Stark’s own plane. If it wasn’t for Spider-Man, he would have gotten away with it.
Vulture accomplished a lot for someone who wasn’t gifted with superpowers or a lot of money. Alas, he still didn’t make it to the top of the food chain.
The Clippers lack the same kind of killer instinct and toughness Vulture did. Whenever they were pushed, they didn’t push back. It appeared as if they just rolled over and gave up. There were more than a few years where they should have been legitimate contenders. In the end, neither the Clips or Vulture were mean enough to get the job done. You can compare this to Vulture because he could have gotten money and favors if he told the world Peter Parker was Spider-Man.
