The New Mutants: Director Josh Boone confirms new trailer release date

The New Mutants director Josh Boone has confirmed the release date of a brand new trailer for the long-awaited superhero film.
Only a handful of superhero films have had the dramatic and uncertain road to the big screen that The New Mutants has. It was becoming easy to assume that Marvel Studios had forsaken the Josh Boone-directed X-Men film, but that’s not the case. Aside from having Marvel’s blessing, there’s also a new trailer on the way.
Josh Boone took to his Instagram account to reveal that a second trailer for The New Mutants will arrive on January 6th. On top of giving credit to those involved, he also reaffirmed that the film will be released on April 3rd as intended:
The New Mutants was one of the last films to be produced by Fox for their X-Men franchise. Filmed in 2017, it was originally slated to be released on April 13, 2018. Unfortunately, its release was marred by creative differences between Boone and Fox executives. Boone was reportedly aiming to make a superhero film with horror elements, while Fox wanted it to be a true horror film.
Following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the project has floated in purgatory, with many speculating whether Disney and Marvel Studios would ever release it. But as mentioned, it was recently confirmed that Marvel has given the film the green light. New Mutants artist Bill Sienkiewicz, who shared the news, also revealed that Boone sent him a trailer — which is likely the one we’ll receive — and the veteran comics writer was impressed.
The release of The New Mutants marks the realization of a dream not only for Boone and Sienkiewicz but for longtime fans of this offshoot of Marvel’s famous mutants. And there’s no doubt they’ll be hoping their patience has been worth it when The New Mutants finally makes its way to theaters.
