Movie: Dark Knight Rises (2012)

Dark Knight Rises was the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan’s iconic Dark Knight Trilogy. The villain used to conclude Batman’s run was Bane, a villain who almost ended Batman for good in the comic books. The question everyone had when Bane was announced was whether or not he’d deliver the back-breaker that put Batman on the sidelines. That question was answered shortly into the movie.

Bane knew Batman was Bruce Wayne and was already prepared for their fight. Batman’s never fought anyone like Bane and it showed. There was nothing Batman could do that Bane didn’t counter. Before he finished off Batman, Bane lifted him over his head and delivered a spine damaging back-breaker.

This was a brutal fight. No one had beaten Batman and Bane destroyed him. Maybe what worse was how Bane was talking to Bruce as they fought. It was like a walk in the park for him. He constantly reminded Bruce that he had no hope of winning the fight.

Whenever Batman used his tricks, Bane just shrugged them off. Bane saying, “The shadows betray you, because they belong to me” hit hard. The one thing that struck fear in Batman’s enemies was no longer an advantage. Ending it the way everyone wanted it to was the cherry on top. This fight couldn’t end without the back-breaker. Thankfully it did.
