Superhero movies: 20 best superhero movie fight scenes of the decade
By Mark Lynch
18. The Spider VS Kingpin and his minions
Movie: Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
The five Spider-Beings were moments away from fixing the multiverse. Just as they were going to put the goober in the slot, they’re attacked by the Kingpin and his minions. Despite being outnumbered, the Spiders should have beaten their would-be dispatchers easily. Unfortunately, their bodies kept glitching. This made it difficult for them to maintain their rhythm. Just as things seemed bleak, Miles Morales surprised them and helped save the day.
After all of the displaced Spiders went home, it was Miles versus Wilson Fisk. Miles was outclassed on strength, skill, and experience. Luckily, Miles’ father was there to inspire him to keep going. With the shoulder touch (the deadliest of moves) Miles used his venom blast to turn the tide and beat Wilson Fisk. His first of many big wins for that reality’s new Spider-Man.
Why it ranks as one of the greatest fight scenes from this decade’s superhero movies
First, this fight was well done. There was a lot going on, but it wasn’t cluttered. Fights with multiple participants can sometimes look crowded. Second, the colors. While all this fighting was going on, everything looked beautiful. A small and cool observation. Third, it was fun. For example, Spider-Man Noir punching Tombstone and the word “Applesauce” appearing on the screen was funny. Lastly, there was a lot of emotions. Miles stopping Peter B. from sacrificing himself and Miles’ dad changing his mind about Spider-Man were two defining moments in Miles’ life. A perfect ending to Miles’ origin.
