5. Black Swan

Played by: Zac Efron

Deadpool annoys everyone he comes across. It’s a weapon he uses to keep his enemies off balance. It’s also hilarious. In this one case, however, Wade got credit for a kill he didn’t do.

The guy who actually killed the targets was a mercenary named Black Swan – a guy who approaches wet work work like a gentleman. As a result, he felt disgraced and needed payback for what Deadpool did. Thus, Swan tricked Wade into coming to his castle and deleted Wade’s memories. In the end, Deadpool beat him with less than half his brain functions and killed Swan by blowing up his castle (and himself in the process).

Black Swan is a narcissistic, insufferable bully. He’s a perfect villain for a Deadpool 3. He’s the exact opposite of everything that Wade is. Wade cares about people. Black Swan is the kind of guy that everyone hates. He once even killed someone in his employ for cursing in his presence – certainly not an offense that warrants death.

Bringing in Black Swan into Deadpool 3 gives everyone a villain that’s easy to hate. Unlike Thanos or Killmonger, there’s no way to relate to the Francis or the headmaster of the orphanage. They’re monsters. This is the right project for villains like this.

Laugh if you want, but Zac Efron is incredibly talented. Black Swan has to be played by someone who looks good in a suit, can act like an aristocratic jerk, and appears like they can fight. We’ve seen Efron do all of this multiple times. He’s perfect for the role.
