Supergirl’s midseason premiere features the return of the famous Superman villain, but before it all goes down, find out how he causes havoc for Kara and the DEO.

The long-awaited Crisis On Infinite Earths crossover has come and gone, but it didn’t leave our screens without leaving behind something game-changing. That game-changing occurrence came in the form of a complete reinvention as the multiverse shifted around and Supergirl’s Earth-38 merged with the main Arrowverse continuity on Earth-1.

However, while that means that the Girl of Steel now lives, operates and flies through the skies of the same earth as The Flash, Team Arrow, the Legends and Batwoman, it has also resulted in a major change in how the world perceives one of her greatest enemies.

Yes, as we saw in the Crisis’ final installment, Lex Luthor has somehow managed to rewrite reality so that now he is perceived as being some kind of great hero. With Kara being a Paragon, she remembers the way that things were and, thankfully, as J’onn is also a Paragon, he was able to restore those memories in every other member of Team Supergirl.

The upcoming episode, “The Bottle Episode” will see Kara attempt to figure out what the iconic Superman villain is up to and see whether or not he really is telling the truth. It’s an ironic situation for the Paragon of Truth to be in, but it’s one that is necessary for a Big Bad like Lex.

Check out the episode’s trailer below:

Naturally, fans are eager to find out what Lex is up to, and they’re even more eager to see Jon Cryer back in action. The veteran actor did a great job during his three-episode stint last season, and he was equally as brilliant in Crisis On Infinite Earths.

It appears that Lex will be attempting to win Lena’s trust by reminding her how powerful they could be together. It has yet to be revealed if she’s still aware of Kara’s secret or not, but if she is still aware of her perceived betrayal, this could end up influencing her response. That said, Lena usually tends to subvert everyone’s expectations by doing the right thing, so there is little reason to doubt her here.

However, that won’t be all that’s happening, as a female version of Brainiac-5 turns up – something that promises to have interesting consequences for the actual Brainac-5 (who we’ve since affectionately come to know as “Brainy”). And by the looks of things, this may not have a great outcome for Brainy’s girlfriend Nia Nal/Dreamer – who, as the promotional images reveal, ends up getting seriously injured.

To make matters even more interesting, the female Brainiac-5 will be portrayed by Meaghan Rath – the real-life sister of our own Brainy Jesse Rath.

"MEAGHAN RATH GUEST STARS – The subsequent complications from the Crisis leave Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) to face a chaotic threat. Tawnia McKiernan directed the episode with story by Derek Simon and teleplay by Nicki Holcomb & Jen Troy (#510). Original airdate 1/19/2020."

A post-Crisis world is going to be different all around, but it looks like it’s going to have the biggest impact on Supergirl. And with that, let’s go up, up and away!
