Film has been a powerful medium for comics for decades but, now, TV is steadily becoming the better place for comic book properties.

Comic book movies have been more profitable than anyone would have predicted. We all flock to the theaters to see Marvel, DC, and everyone in between display their best work. In addition, we also buy the merchandise. The best movies can gross over a billion dollars, and even the lesser films can sometimes at least make back the money they spent and make more when the digital downloads are released. But as popular as they are, people aren’t thrilled about spending upwards of thirty dollars on a two to three-hour event. It seems the entertainment companies saw this coming and switched tactics. Now, television shows have become the way to go.

2019 was the beginning of the comic book TV show era. Sure, there were plenty of comic book shows before last year. Agents of SHIELD., the entire Arrowverse, Wonder Woman, and a plethora of other shows have been popular over the years. That’s not including the cartoons like Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, X-Men, and the ever-popular Batman: The Animated Series. That said, if we look at the way things are going, comic book TV shows are going to be the way going forward.
