How Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 crosses over with Riverdale

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Part 3 has spelled its way onto Netflix, and it even included a shocking crossover with Riverdale.

After much anticipation, the third part of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was released on Netflix. The beloved series is based on the Archie Comics character Sabrina Spellman – who became a pop-culture phenomenon in the ’90s due to Melissa Joan Hart’s portrayal of her in sitcom Sabrina The Teenage Witch.

A darker series, it’s often compared to fellow Archie Comics show Riverdale – which is really no surprise given that it has the same production team behind it and also streams on Netflix (internationally) after its first airing on The CW.

After teasing fans with multiple references to each other, Sabrina took that one step further in its third offering as it contained a number of Easter Eggs and references to her Archie counterpart.

Of course, the most striking one was undoubtedly the appearance of Nathalie Boltt herself – who is known for portraying Penelope Blossom on Riverdale. While the veteran performer’s role here was a cameo appearance through the use of Prudence’s glamour charm and the character isn’t actually named, the show took it one step further later in the season as Sabrina herself refers to the Blossom family and how they eventually settled in Riverdale.

Not only does the teenage witch refer to Riverdale as a big, scary town, her and Ambrose actually end up going there. On the way in, they pass the “Welcome To Riverdale” sign. That sign that has “Murder Capital of the World” spray-painted on it – a direct reference to all the murders that took place on the show – as well as “JJ wuz here” – a reference to the beloved character Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse).

To top it all off, Hilda sent Dr. Cerberus off to that infamous town to retrieve its’ diner’s famous hamburgers – no doubt a nod to Riverdale‘s POPs’ diner.
