Which superhero role can Jennifer Aniston still play?

Barbara Gordon (Oracle)

While there might still be a Batgirl movie in the works for the DCEU, that’s not the role that comes to mind for Jennifer Aniston to play. What comes to mind is Oracle—the namesake Barbara adopted once her days as a crime fighter was cut short by the Joker in The Killing Joke. This version of the character, played by Aniston, could have one of two homes.

The upcoming Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn could feature an older Barbara Gordon who is wheelchair-bound, but finds purpose in assisting this ragtag team of heroes. In the comics, Barbara founded the Birds of Prey team and was their eyes and ears in the sky. A role like this gives Aniston plenty to do without having to perform many stunts. However, with the aforementioned Batgirl movie on the horizon (and Birds of Prey only a few weeks from release), it does seem unlikely that this is a movie that would feature any version of Barbara Gordon.

What’s more realistic and would leave room for a younger version to appear elsewhere is Oracle playing the “tech” role for the new Team Arrow in 2040, assuming Green Arrow and The Canaries gets a series order rom The CW. As it stands, the one who would normally play their tech, William, has been kidnapped—assuming that would be the plot of a theoretical season 1, Mia, Laurel, and Dinah could use some help keeping Star City safe. Jennifer Aniston could easily slide into this role, having been Batgirl 20 years earlier and getting back into the hero game to help the new Team Arrow.
