The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

This MCU teaser opens with Sam Wilson practicing with his brand new Captain America shield by throwing it against trees. He may not have super soldier serum coursing through his veins, but he’s pretty handy with the weapon. Shortly after, we see briefs shots of Sam in his new Falcon costume going after villains in the air and Bucky confronting Zemo. What’s interesting about Sam’s bit is that the people he’s chasing have a similar color scheme to Hydra’s uniforms. Could this be telling us that Hydra is crawling back into the spotlight?

Perhaps the biggest moment of the footage comes when John Walker, a.k.a. U.S. Agent (played by Wyatt Russell) runs onto a football field in his superhero costume (an appropriate moment, considering the Super Bowl) high-fiving a person during what looks like a very showy presentation. This could indicate that John Walker is being used as propaganda material, as opposed to just a new version of Captain America.

Given his comic book background, it’s possible that Walker will end up a hero in the MCU. However, considering the showiness of his appearance, it doesn’t look like he’s fully committed to the selflessness of being a crime-fighter just yet.

Closing out the teaser, we see Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson having a friendly moment, which tells us their relationship got a whole lot better after Sam rudely refused to move his seat to accommodate for the Winter Soldier’s long limbs inside Steve Roger’s undercover car during Captain America: Civil War.
