1. Oracle

The missing piece in The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn everyone noticed was a focal point in the TV series and was comic accurate. Forced to retire from being Batgirl thanks to Joker’s late-night visit, Barbara Gordon “fights crime a different way” as Oracle, expert hacker and voice of reason/intel to heroes in the field.

Dina Meyer played her well as a seasoned crimefighter-turned-leader of new superpowered recruits in need of guidance. She also struck that balance every crusader who isn’t as focused as Bruce Wayne must have: juggling a life and love interests with heroics and keeping that facet of herself a secret.

Barbara had a man in her life (Wade, a guidance counselor) but it ended in tragedy. He was killed by Harley Quinn to get back at Barb and the Birds for their constant meddling. That might have been prevented if Alfred hadn’t exposed her secret to the guy (“taken the liberty” as Alfie is known to do). But he arguably just wanted her to be happy and have it all.

Her days as Batgirl weren’t totally behind her, either. Barbara would slip into costume a time or two, although in flashbacks for the most part. She would don her cowl again one time to deal with Lady Shiva and prove to herself she still had it, putting the team in jeopardy. This made for one of the best episodes and subplots in the evanescent series.
