2. Tony Stark and Pepper Potts (The MCU)

It may be surprising, but Tony Stark and Pepper Potts take the top spot in the film category. While we didn’t get to see much of their relationship, despite many opportunities across the entire MCU, it is one of the strongest superhero couples from the cinematic universe.

Tony is another hero that without his romantic interest, wouldn’t be the hero he needed to be to save the universe (sound familiar?). His journey leads him from being a self-centered jerk to the world being centered on his family. Thanos hurt the rest of the world, but through that, Tony was able to find meaning.

He doesn’t get that without Pepper. Imagine a version of Endgame where she was snapped away. It’s dark. Would Tony be able to do what he needed to do to help save the universe? Probably not.

Pepper Potts may not play a huge role in the MCU directly, but without her, Thanos wins.

What to watch this Valentine’s Day: To get the full story, pop in Iron Man, Infinity War, and Endgame. Those three films will help give you a complete picture of Tony’s story full circle and the impact Pepper Potts (and their daughter) had on it.
