4. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage (Marvel Comics)

What makes this relationship so great is how real it is. Marvel does a great job of showing the not-so-super-side of their superheroes, but they’re at their best when with their street-level heroes.

Yes, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage have powers, unlike us. However, they are flawed. Maybe more so than anyone on this list, which is why they take the first spot in the comics category. Luke was in a street gang. Jessica was the shy, awkward kid that was eventually known as the freaky coma girl.

While we may not be able to put ourselves in those exact shoes, most of us can relate to making bad decisions and being an outcast (even the popular kids feel it at some point in their lives). The troubles they’ve faced alone and as a couple make them one of the most realistic superhero couples we’ve seen on this list. It’s a shame their Netflix series never got a chance to do a deep dive on them as a couple.

What to read this Valentine’s Day: There are some good stories to read with these two as a couple, but for Valentine’s Day; it’s best to keep it light. The 2010 Heroic Age run of the New Avengers touches on their lives as heroes and parents (spoilers: Squirrel Girl ends up being their child’s nanny).
