10 superhero couples to keep you company this Valentine’s Day
3. Barry Allen and Iris West-Allen (The CW’s Arrowverse)
It’s no surprise why Barry and Iris top the TV category. If this writer were into “shipping” couples, he would definitely be team SuperFlash. Barry and Iris are the fun, less broody version of Olicity. Partially because of the tone of the show, but also because of what they’re lives are like.
Not that Central City has tougher villains than Star City, but not only is Barry in danger on a regular basis, but Iris is a reporter, working for the story. The final seasons of Arrow found Felicity looking for trouble, but she was always more comfortable behind a computer. Iris supports Team Flash in a similar way, but when she’s investigating a story, she’s not afraid to put herself in harm’s way.
With all the metahumans, danger, time travel, and multiversal doppelgangers; the characters of The Flash need to find ways to keep things light; especially the Barry/Iris power couple. Like many of these couples, they always have each other’s back and Barry always manages to find himself running back to Iris.
What to watch this Valentine’s Day: Similar to Arrow, there’s plenty to choose from the entire series of The Flash. Two standout episodes that touch on Barry and Iris’s relationship are Season 2’s The Runaway Dinosaur and Season 3’s Duet.
