Who is Bloodshot?

Bloodshot is the alias of Raymond “Ray” Garrison – a former soldier and an operative of a group that goes by the name “Project Rising Spirit”.

Also known by the acronym P.R.S., Project Rising Spirit is a secret organization with ties to the U.S. Government which, as a military contractor, deals in experimental and sometimes unethical weapons

After Garrison and his wife are assassinated, the group resurrects him in order to utilize him as a weapon to put an end to a large number of terrorist threats around the globe.

As a result of P.R.S. injecting nanites into his blood, Garrison possesses the powers of regeneration, technomancy and shapeshifting.

Having discovered that his mind had also been implanted with hundreds of fake memories – such as different versions of his family, friends, loved ones and allies, whom he believes he’s rescuing when he’s sent on his missions – he embarks on a quest to discover his true identity and purpose in life (you know, aside from killing people).

His story is by no means a unique one – it’s derivative of the likes of RoboCop, the origins of both Wolverine and Deadpool, Universal Soldier (which just so happened to be released a few months before Bloodshot’s first appearance on panel in 1992) and a variety other sources – but it’s undoubtedly interesting and should make for a fantastic movie, assuming it’s executed correctly.
