How should Galactus look?

If Galactus was presented solely as a humanoid large enough to eat planets, it would be impossible for him to interact convincingly with characters like Spider-Man, Thor, Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel – they’d essentially be no bigger to him than bacteria is to us.

Equally, it would be horrific to see him presented as a cloud again, and we don’t want to see him as a ball of energy or invisible presence or anything abstract like that. Essentially, we want Galactus.

So the solution is simple – and Marvel Studios should take inspiration from one of their previous bad guys: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s Ego (pictured).

Galactus’ true form should indeed be the gigantic humanoid from the comic books, but he should also have an avatar the size of a regular human that can interact with the MCU’s heroes on a more conventional level.

The legendary Kurt Russell portrayed Ego – who was actually a Celestial with an entire planet as his body – and we didn’t see his true form until the movie neared its climax.

If Galactus is presented as a regular-sized humanoid for the majority of his appearances in the MCU – with an actor who has a huge screen presence portraying him – he could ultimately be depicted in his true form once he’s made his final move to devour the Earth. That would certainly suffice – it’s pretty much how he’s depicted in the comic books, after all.
