3. Black Panther VS the Skrulls

The Skrull invasion was at its war phase. All over the world and beyond, the Skrulls were making their presence known. They set out to destroy anyone willing to stop them. They invaded America, Europe, Asia, and even the great nation of Wakanda. The Skrulls were prepared to take on the Wakandans. Or so they thought. The warriors of Wakanda were ready, and they had their king T’Challa and Queen Ororo Monroe (Storm) leading the way.

Despite being outnumbered, the Wakandans fought and came out victorious. And not only did they win, but they also sent them away with a message. The message was a spaceship full of dead Skrulls heading into space with a message in blood that read, “This is what happens when you invade Wakanda,” letting the alien race (and anyone else for that matter) know to never try this ever again.

The action was great, but what made this short story special was the narration. Jason Aaron told the story from both the Skrull general’s perspective and T’Challa’s. You knew T’Challa’s fight was righteous, but so was the Skrull’s. The Skrull tells a story to his wife and children about how he felt this was the right thing to do and must eventually say that this would be his last mission. He was a soldier with a job and was killed before he could be with his family. This was pretty heavy, to say the least.
