Riverdale bid farewell to Jughead Jones in an unbelievably emotional offering that finally revealed the truth and it left fans in complete shock.

Riverdale prides itself on its ability to shock the audiences watching at home, but the latest episode, “Chapter Seventy-Two: To Die For”, made them feel something quite different.

Since this season began, the show has cleverly made reference to what could happen in the future with a series of flash-forwards designed to keep the viewers in suspense. During those flash-forwards, the show jumped forward to Spring Break to reveal that Betty Cooper, Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge had burned Jughead Jones’ beanie hat – suggesting that he was dead and that his friends had covered it up.

Last week’s episode then seemingly confirmed that it was indeed Jughead who had been killed, apparently by Stonewall Prep‘s Donna Sweett – who attempted to frame Betty for the dastardly deed. However, that only angered the self-proclaimed “Nightmare From Next Door” who vowed to exact revenge for Jughead.

Speaking of Jughead, this week’s installment saw Archie, Betty and Veronica unite, alongside Jughead’s father FP Jones, Alice Cooper, Kevin Keller and the rest of the town as everyone gathered to bid farewell to their beloved Jughead as his funeral took place. However, sadness wasn’t the only feeling fans were hit with following this jaw-dropping episode.
