7. The New Day
The New Day started off being booed in Philadelphia in the 2014 Royal Rumble. Now, they’re one of the most popular tag teams of all time.
Kofi Kingston is their de facto leader. He’s called on when they need a singles competitor. Big-E is the muscle. While he’s massive, he’s not slow by any means. He’s quick on his feet and agile. Xavier Woods is the balance. He knows how to work the crowd, he can fly, and he’s stronger than he appears. He’s also a great hype man.
Together, they’ve won seven-time tag team champions and continue to have the crowd chant, “New Day Rocks!”
Okoye, Nakia, Shuri
The New Day needed a trio of characters that matched them completely. All three of these wonderful Wakandan Women have all the attributes of the new day. Xavier Woods is Shuri, the smartest (don’t forget has a PhD) and possibly silliest of the group. Nakia is Kofi, the one who seems to balance intelligence and fighting skill. Big E is Okoye, the one who’s more likely to take your head off your shoulders for messing with his brothers.
The New Day are also proud black men who are secure in themselves and have no problem having fun. It’s one of the many qualities that attracts people to them. However, when it’s time to take care of business, they do it with ease. The women of Wakanda are the same. They know who they are and take pride in it. We saw in Black Panther that you don’t mess with the warrior women of Wakanda, just like you don’t mess with the New Day.
