The Flash has promoted yet another one of its new characters to a series regular for Season 7, but who are they replacing?

The Flash‘s sixth season has gone above and beyond to re-energize the show, exploring an array of exciting new stories while introducing us to an abundance of new and intriguing characters. And now, it looks like one of those characters will be hopping on-board full time.

As revealed by Deadline, Kayla Compton has been promoted to a series regular for the show’s upcoming seventh season. Compton has thus far recurred rather heavily throughout Season 6 as Allegra Garcia.

A metahuman who fell in with the wrong crowd, Allegra didn’t get off on the best foot with Team Flash. However, thanks to Cecile Horton, Harrison “Nash” Wells and Iris West-Allen’s show of faith in her, she fought to give herself a better life – starting with an internship at the latter’s paper Central City Citizen. And following that, she became a highly reliable hero on Team Flash.

Compton won’t be the only Season 6 arrival sticking around, however, as she now joins Brandon McKnight – who portrays fellow Team Flash newcomer Chester P. Runk on the show and was also recently promoted to a series regular position.

What does it all mean for The Flash?

While fans are undoubtedly thrilled to see both Kayla Compton and Brandon McKnight join the ranks of The CW’s Scarlet Speedster TV series, the announcements of not one but two new full-time additions to the show in such a short space of time has some of them worried.

More from Arrowverse

With Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash), Candice Patton (Iris West-Allen), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon/Vibe), Hartley Sawyer (Ralph Dibny/Elongated Man), Danielle Nicolet (Cecile Horton), Tom Cavanagh (Harrison Wells), Jesse L. Martin (Joe West) and Efrat Dor (Eva McCulloch) all currently series regulars on the show, it does occasionally struggle to juggle screen-time between all of its actors – and that’s not even factoring in the recurring appearances from Allegra, Chester and Kamilla Hwang.

Naturally, fans are concerned that the two new full-time additions mean that one or two other members of the main cast could end up leaving the show. Last year, rumors were rampant, claiming that Carlos Valdes was waving goodbye to The Flash after five seasons – rumors he vehemently denied at San Diego Comic-Con. However, those rumors have once again begun to rear their heads.

Adding to that, some have been speculating that fellow original cast member Danielle Panabaker will be taking a leave of absence while others think that Ralph Dibny’s storyline this season points towards the culmination of his character journey.

If anyone does end up departing, it’s likely going to be Efrat Dor’s Eva McCulloch as she is portraying this season’s villain Mirror Master – a slot that usually tends to last for only one season.

That being said, perhaps no cast member will end up leaving the show and it will carry on with a bumper cast. Either way, Compton and McKnight are great additions and will undoubtedly thrive in the spotlight in Season 7.
