Following rumors of his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, reports say that Mark Ruffalo has already agreed to appear on the She-Hulk show.

There have been many rumors that Mark Ruffalo would be reprising his role as Bruce Banner/ the Hulk in the highly anticipated Disney+ show, She-Hulk. As per The Illuminerdi, the strongest Avenger has already officially signed on for the show. No details have emerged about how much screen-time the character will get, but if true, we can at least expect Bruce to appear in the premiere episode to pass the torch to his successor.

Ruffalo’s Hulk appearing on She-Hulk is a fitting tie-in for the Marvel Cinematic Universe character and the Disney+ show. Jennifer Walters is Bruce Banner’s cousin, who, in the comics, gets her Hulk abilities following an emergency blood transfusion from Bruce that saves her life in an accident. Jennifer’s transformation – at first – is milder than Bruce’s, and she can retain her intelligence and emotional control even in Hulk form.

The MCU’s Bruce was only able to merge his two personae in Avengers: Endgame, and Professor Hulk (or Smart Hulk as some called him) was born. Professor Hulk was the only Avenger who seemed to live a fulfilling life after the Snap.

However, by the end of Avengers: Endgame, Bruce was badly injured when he recreated the Snap. He brought back all the fallen heroes, but the film’s creators confirmed that Bruce’s arm was permanently damaged following his heroic actions. What better time to bring in another hero of the same caliber as the Hulk?

We are still awaiting casting news and release dates for She-Hulk, though some are hoping that the show will blaze a new trail by choosing a different kind of lead for the show. Jennifer is a lawyer in the comics, and in some iterations, retains her tall stature and muscular form as a civilian. The show may go down the same route as the MCU films, with the actor playing Jennifer portraying She-Hulk in motion-capture and CGI.

She-Hulk is part of a new slate of MCU shows, including Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight, that could crossover to the big screen. Several current MCU characters will appear in Disney+ spin-offs The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki and What If…? which are set to release this year and in 2021.
