Harley Quinn: Ranking the 15 best characters of season 1
By Mark Lynch
11. Frank the Plant
Voiced by: J.B. Smooth
Frank the Plant wasn’t a deep character. He was pure comic relief. Despite not being important throughout the series, he played his position flawlessly. Frank’s purpose was to make snarky and sassy remarks. Whenever he opened his mouth, you knew you were in for a laugh. His design helped as well. The two eyes almost never are aligned with his face. You’d forget they were there until they were needed for a funny moment. It’s almost impossible to take him seriously. They tried to give him a few emotional moments, but it’s impossible when it’s J.B. Smooth voicing him.
J.B. Smooth’s voice is easily recognizable. If you’ve heard him once, you’ll always know it’s him. It’s probably part of the reason why he was cast. That and his incredible ability to deliver lines. Whoever voiced Frank the Plant had a challenge. Say those lines and always be funny. One job that could fall flat. As the phrase goes, Dying is Easy. Comedy is Hard” and it’s true. Smooth had to make those words come to life. Because he was used so little, Frank had to be on point every time. Not only was Smooth always on the mark, he was better than we could have hoped.
