10 comics series to binge read while social distancing

1. House of X/Powers of X

The most recent reboot of the X-Men comics franchise, this is one of the most fascinating X-Men stories in years. It completely recontextualizes so much for the mutants of the Marvel Universe and the universe itself in the process.

Not to spoil anything, but every twist, every reveal, every bit of new information in this series is mind-blowing in terms of what it means for the X-Men and the Marvel Universe. Sure, this feels more like a prologue than a story with a beginning, middle, and end, but that’s okay. The story will pull you in regardless of that fact.

So much of these two series (yes two as the comics were marketed “The two series that are one,”) establishes a new status quo for so many characters – much of which is still being built upon with subsequent series.

Basically, this is the series that you should read if you haven’t been interested in the X-Men for a while and are looking for something to reinvigorate that interest. Plus, it’s simply a great, and admittedly complex story that boasts great art the whole way throughout. And hey, if you like this series, then there are plenty of X-Men series spinning out of it!
