10 comics series to binge read while social distancing

6. The Omega Men: The End is Here
Jumping immediately back to a much darker story, this is a series that asks “How far will someone go to defeat that which they think is evil?” Written by Tom King and with art by Barnaby Bagenda, with one issue by Ig Guara, The Omega Men: The End is Here is an unflinching look into war and all the harm that it causes.
It’s hard to talk about much of this series without spoiling any of it, but there are some brutal moments present here that are simply heartbreaking. This is very much unsurprising as King is a former member of the CIA and it’s very clear that he is bringing his personal experience to this series, much like he did for The Sheriff of Babylon.
This series tackles many similar themes that previously mentioned East of West tackles, such as religion, war, and politics, but does so in much different way. There’s a lived-in experience with the way that this series is presented, especially when it comes to its thematic elements, as well as its characters, that makes the series feel very authentic in what it’s trying to convey. And, to be completely honest, I read all twelve issues in one sitting when I read the series for the first time. It’s that good. Plus, there is possibly the single best Kyle Rayner panel ever, in any comic, within the pages of this series.
