Riverdale season 4: 5 mysteries the show has yet to solve
5. Can Archie and Jughead still graduate?
Much of this season has been spent focusing on the idea of the future and what it holds for the Riverdale High students.
Yes, the notion of life after Riverdale has played upon many of them, but while Betty attempted to make her dreams of Yale a reality, Veronica tried to carve out her own path away from the Lodge name and Jughead moved to a new school in order to pursue writing, it was Archie who was left uncertain about his future – something that was intensified when he discovered that he probably wouldn’t graduate with his friends.
That was further highlighted to an unexpected degree in the previous episode when Jughead confirmed that he probably wouldn’t be graduating either. And sure, he now seemingly has the contract for the Baxter Brothers novel series, but it’s clear that he – like Archie – wants to share the special moment of high school graduation with his friends and girlfriend.
In the concluding moments of that episode, Veronica and Betty made a vow that they would help their boyfriends out in every way that they possibly can in order to ensure that they’re able to graduate. And it appears that Archie and Jug are fully on-board. The only question is: Can two students fighting an uphill battle to graduate set aside enough time in their lives to focus on schoolwork when that’s something that the show rarely ever does?
