The genius of Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage isn’t exactly known for being one of cinema’s greatest actors. He’s known for his larger-than-life and campy performances more than anything. In fact, there have been a ton of memes and videos made of him doing random wacky and weird things he’s done in the movies. Let’s also not forget the questionable southern accent he did in Con Air. And despite that, he remains popular and well-loved. All of this made him the perfect selection for Big Daddy.

Damon Macready (Cage) was supposed to be this quirky and seemingly wholesome father. It’s what made it hilarious when we find out that he taught his daughter the finer points of killing and dismemberment. When he was quizzing her about the knife he got her and other things, it made for a memorable scene.

Now, not everyone could have pulled this off the way that Cage did. He seemed like a great and caring father. What father doesn’t want his daughter to know everything she can to protect herself? Especially in their messed up world.

Who else but Nicolas “NOT THE BEES” Cage could play a violent vigilante named Big Daddy? He took the huge role seriously and delivered, and his chemistry with Chloë Grace Moretz is phenomenal. It made them one of the best duos of that time.
