The Phenomenal Chloë Grace Moretz

Chloë Grace Moretz was easily the best part of Kick-Ass. Looking back on it, there was just no way this would have worked without her.

The first time we saw her character on-screen, she was excited to get ice cream after getting shot in a bulletproof vest. We were all shocked because she maintained this little girl presentation all while being amazingly tough at the same time. Then, she started cursing and we lost it – something that set the tone for her appearances as every single swear kept us laughing throughout the movie.

However, it really hit home when she got emotional. Seeing her cry reminded us that she’s not an adult. It was an emotional scene when she broke down over her father’s scorched body. Moretz truly made our hearts sink in our chests as Hit-Girl covered his smoking body.

The Hit-Girl role couldn’t have been played by a better actor; which is fitting because it’s also the role that put Chloë Grace Moretz in the hearts and minds of so many people. The performance skyrocketed her to more than a few great roles going forward, because the range she showed here proved that she could be more than what initially looked like a child with a potty mouth.

We really saw what she was capable of when she played the titular role in Carrie (the remake of the 1976 classic). And it’ll be interesting to see how she grows as an actor going forward.
